What readings should I be getting?

Postby TRD_ZERO » Mon Feb 07, 2011 8:27 pm

Dont ask why it isn't running yet. I'm running 3sgte injectors on my blacktop. I wired in a resistor pack but is been playing on my mind whether I have wired it up correctly. What readings should I be getting on my injector plugs or could someone explain to me what tests I could perform to verify I've done it right.

I assume you have wired the pack to +IGN wire?
So measure the resistance between +IGN and each supply pin on the injector plug.
Alternatively you can plug in injectors and measure resistance between +12V switchable supply to ECU and each injector output.

First measurement will confirm if you have resistors between 12V feed and injectors, if you have wired correctly the resistance between 12V and each corresponding pin on the injector should be almost exactly same as resistance of the each resistor in resistor pack, or it should be somewhere between 5-15Ohm.

Second measurement should measure the total resistance of the injectors+resistors. It is a bit trickier to figure it out as injectors could be grouped. In any case the resistance should not be lower that ~5-10Ohms.

What colour/s should the ignition wires be. Car is in storage at the moment so can't check it right now. Thanks for that info that is exactly what I was after.

dont the injectors run on 5v circuitry like the tps, map sensor etc etc?

not in toyotas...
as for colour it is black with red (sometimes orange) stripe.

How did you wire the resistor pack?

I cut the four red black wires further down the loom. Joined all four coming from the ecu into 1 and connected it to the main wire on the resistor pack. The four smaller wires I connected to the wires leading to the injectors. Correct?

I haven't had a chance to work on it for awhile. When I fired it up without the resistor pack and it ran super rich. Installed the pack and didn't see any noticeable difference which made me wonder if I had done it correctly. I'll do the readings to double check. Just need to make sure that when I go for the tune it's only the tune that needs work not other bits I got wrong.
