Where to get electrical connection blocks for Fuel tanks

Postby Bazda » Wed Feb 09, 2011 10:35 pm

Trying to find where to get universal electrical connection blocks to go onto a fuel tank to power the fuel pump.

Ideally something that you can screw down (most likely a plastic block with some holes..) with the electrical connections molded into it.

any ideas?

I used this setup out of a UZZ30 Soarer, cheap too.

The Soarer fuel tank has a pump cradle that bolt in under a flat cover, the feed line out is separate to this and connects to the pump with a rubber line. Because of where the tank sits I didn't have a lot of room to have fuel lines coming out the top, instead I can feed the line out the front side of the tank. A couple of pics I stole off the net -

This is the section of the Soarer tank that will be cut out and welded into the top of the Corolla tank. you can see at the bottom edge of the hole where the cradle bolts on and the rubber line that feeds to the outlet line.

This pic shows the cradle removed from the tank, it has a kink in it due to the placement in the Soarer tank but will be straightened and shortened. It is going to be mounted in the left front corner of the tank, away from the fuel gauge and the filler neck. Will set the height of the cradle so the filter sock on the bottom of the pump sits around 50mm below the bottom of the KE70 tank, this will be surrounded by a box welded to the bottom of the tank that also extends around 50mm up into the tank. Top half will be drilled full of holes to allow fuel in but restrict it flowing back out. So thats the plan, now I just need to drop all the bits off with the panelbeater.

The above would work, id need to cut it out and put some holes through it to screw it down.

Think I will head to pick a part and see what I can find. Just thought there should be something simple i could buy off the shelf so i wouldn't need to do any modifications.

Falcons from EA onwards I think run a screw on type setup, as in there is a big plastic nut that holds the pump mount and connections down on the plastic tank. They also tend to run standard size Bosch fuel pumps if you needed the pump bracket and are very easy to get to in the boot as well.

Just came across a bulkhead fitting for wiring into fuel tanks and remembered this thread.
