To replace a front bumper. How hard can it be??

Postby Tagged » Mon May 23, 2011 10:54 pm

Ok so this was a thread about interchangeability between Trueno and Levin bumpers, since now the question is answered, I am now wondering how hard would it be to remove and reinstall the bumpers by my self.....

I've checked out some videos on YouTube on this matter and it seems to be quite easy for most bumper replacements.

Any one here knows how things would work on a AE111? What would I need? What to look for or look out for? and maybe how long it might take?

Thanks guys

Not sure if applicable to ae111 but with the ae101 the headlights sat just above the bumper and to swap them involved having to change headlights, bonnet, guards too.

It's as easy as looking at them though to see what you will need.

With a AE101 the bumpers are slightly different but the fibreglass BOMEX style bumper we made would fit both models.

With AE111 they are entirely different.

Depends.

Pretty sure Pre-facelift the levin and trueno bumper are different becuase of the different headlight shape near the grill.

But for facelift model both trueno and level bumpers are the same.

Here is a summary.

AE111

Firstly Trueno / Levin

Facelift:
Bumpers headlights and indicators are are all interchangable.

Pre facelift:
Indicators are straight swap between levin and trueno.

Headlights are shaped differently in the inner corner of the light. Will fit just looks a bit shit.

The same applies to a facelift bumper with pre facelift lights and pre facelift bumper with facelift lights.

All the bonnets and guards are exactly the same.

prob 30 min job at the most. There are 3 screws on the top edge under the bonnet. Then two nuts on either size where the bumper attaches to the fender.

Taking it off and putting it back on is the easy part, getting it to line up perfect is another story if your car isn't straight.
