Container Order Item - For October 2011

Morning peeps! We have our next round of containers coming in from Japan in mid December but leaving in October. Unlike the ones early this year, we're organising this well in advance with Mainfreight to avoid delays!

As it will leave in October it ties in nicely with the ability to Laybuy items as well. You can get something today on Laybuy (as the rates today are very good, if I am not mistaken in the last 4 years the YEN Has only hit 65 once before!) and slowly tick it off towards Christmas!

So this includes all items which are considered large or heavy. If it's over 1.5m, it's large! If it's over 30kg, it's heavy. A list of such items would include:

Hoods
Skirts
Bumpers - Front and Rear
Seats
Exhausts
Turbo kits (heavy, or with long front pipes)
Dual Intercoolers (some single intercoolers get up to 15kg as well!)
Wheel Sets
Engine Blocks or Heads
Cranks / Stroker Kits
Doors
Windows
Diffusers
Wide Fenders
Front Splitters
Rear Wings
Roof / Trunk Spoilers
Cross-Bars
Reinforced Lower Cross Members
Coilover Kits
Rotors / Big Brake Kits

So as you can see, the list is rather large and includes mainly heavy or oversized items.

Don't forget, this also includes second hand items on Yahoo! Our containers are around half the price of LCL shipping so it's about the cheapest you'll get. Also, 'normal' sized items can go on the same shipment for cheaper rates if you are in no rush and want to save a little more.

I'll also use this post to throw up some specials so set up a notification for updates!

A small update for this based on a big decision. We've decided to drop our containers from the shipping options available because they are so slow, uneconomical (this is the big reason) and fraught with frustration!

After this container lands, shipping will limited to normal ocean options (LCL). This is 'normal' LCL ocean freight shipping which you, me, my dog or your Nanna would get if you wanted an item shipped from Japan / US to NZ that was oversized. If you wanted a hood shipped, you'd probably dial up Schenker, Mainfreight or the likes to get them to ship it. It is super expensive.

Prices will be at least triple what we offer but we can't offer it any more because of the high costs involved. This will be the last chance for the foreseeable future to make a saving on shipping oversized items from overseas.

If you want to have some fun, try this out. Email your local shipping co. asking for a quote for a standard hood - 2m x 1.8m x 25cm - 18kg boxed - from Japan or the US to your door in NZ and let me know how much it works out to be! Cheapest confirmed quote gets a $50 voucher! Feel free to email them to us - mac@fortyone.co.nz

Example of shipping prices

A rear diffuser that costs $1000 would cost about $800 to ship in the future, versus $200 with this last container
A hood that costs $1500 would cost over $1300 to ship, versus ~$300
Cages that cost $1200 would cost $1000 to ship, versus $380
Doors that cost $3000 would cost $1100 to ship, versus $480
Exhausts that cost $400-$4000 would cost $1200 to ship versus $200-$350 now
2 seats + 2 rails that cost $3000 would cost $900 to ship, versus $300 now

Awesome thanks. Can you also advise if its cheaper to uplift items from your stores (assuming they are in Welly) as opposed to shipping to me. Just trying to mitigate some costs.

Yep it would be, it'd save about $100 ($80 / hood, $24 / exhaust) so long as you have a trailer

They haven't reached us yet. They've just cleared Customs and MAF and Mainfreight will be transporting them to us this week. Then straight out!

Bumping it up because we're now getting in to a tight timeframe to get made-to-order items on this container. Some items take 8 weeks to make, especially carbon or titanium items, and therefore we need to get your desired items sorted now! 8 weeks from today is mid August, under a month from when we plan to ship from Japan. If there's any mistakes, delays or restrictions, we then go over the allocated departure date and we can't ship it!

Items that may be contentious include
Titanium exhausts
Some steel exhausts (i.e. Apexi)
Bodykit items (FRP)
All Carbon items
Made-to-order items like cages
Custom wheels
Custom coilover kits (valving)
Uncommon parts like big brake kits for old or rare cars
Any "big brand" items like Bodykits from STI / Nismo / Mazdaspeed etc - who run to their own beat.
Any Apexi item!
Engine kits whose crank is forged / skimmed

Time to get sorted!

Mac, Todd here. How much for a set of adjustable/coil overs for 1985 AE82 GT Sprinter sedan? It's front wheel drive and it's MODEL E-AE82 FEMQF.
