A fair amount of work needed, exhaust is on the firewall side for a start.

Why dont you go 7age?

7age needs alot of R&D.

The basic gist of it is a 7a-fe bottom end, 4age head and you need to figure out where your pistons and rods are going to come from, most likely 4age rods and custom height pistons, the right size/toothed cambelt i've heard comes from a porsche 922??? then you gotta figure out your fuelling, most likely using a piggybacked 4age ecu.

you'll be hitting alot of stops during your build as you research and customise/improvise, the end result (in a far from perfect state) will most likely fall well short of a 2zz, so the easiest route would be to save up some cash for a motor and swap with custom mounts and car rewiring

do it!!!! i know nothing about the swap but it been needing to be done for ages!!!!!

and a 7age isnt that hard, talk to bazda about it.

7a block, aftermarket rods, either 4age or aftermarket pistons, whatever head you want, cambelt varies between 16v & 20v heads.

cool, also does anyone no if the 2zz will bolt up to my c56 gearbox? or even will the c60 6 speed the 2zz came out with bolt straight in to my car so i only have to make an engine mount and use factory gearbox mounts.

yeah 2zz will bolt up to c56 or you could use the 6 speed and it wouldn't be too far out as it uses a c-series housing. everything is the same like i'm using a 2zz TRD clutch in my car atm with c56.

i have thought about doing this quite a bit i'm sure it wouldn't be hard to do and would really make the car come alive. but be aware it will take a lot of effort as simple things like fuel lines etc will be on the wrong side of the engine since it faces the opposite way to a 4a. you should do it!

finding a 2zz might be another problem as there doesn't seem to be many floating around...

Yeah I helped him with, its hilarious how easy it was really. We kept thinking something wouldnt work but it all just did.. The exhaust was the hardest part and could be tricky to fit on a fwd

2zz into a fwd ae series chassis is pretty easy actually.

You only need to modify the drivers side mount, using the orginal 4a mount to bolt it to the 2zz eng mounting point. As you can bolt up the original C series g/box and use 3 of the original mounts. Also some removal of section from the north/south x member and boxing it up to clear the sump etc.

If I was to start again I would def go for a 2zz after seeing how easy it is to fit.

how well do the 2zzge's go?

ive heard of them but know nothing about them

for example my plan is to do a simple 4agte 20v motor in my trueno just with a small s15 silvia turbo, would a 2zz keep up with that?

Craig (bones_on_bikes is his user name on here) was able to hold off a Ralliart Lancer on the straights at Manfeild in his RunX. That was with a stock 2ZZGE + pod filter + cat back. About 110-115kw @ wheels I think.

Im sure a Turbo 20v eng will be much more powerfull than a stock 2zz.

If your turbo the 2zz then thats a diff story.

I'd love somebody to put a 2zz into my club car (AE92) ... + turbo wouldn't really suit though, as multiply cc rating x 1.7 for MSNZ class ratings
