tri speaker wiring to amp

Postby skathed » Mon Jun 06, 2011 7:10 pm

was wondering if anyone knows or has experience with running 3 speakers off a 2 ch amp. my assumption is you can run two speakers (4 ohm) off each channel and a another speaker (8 ohm) running by bridging it off the two channels the 4 ohm speakers are on.

any thoughts or corrections?

you can definately run multiple speakers off a single channel but it depends on what you are trying to achieve. I'm guessing you want to run the likes of 2 6x9's and a sub? if so I would say just bite the bullet and get a better amp. if you are after some tweeters ontop of some existing speakers then a pair of cross overs would do the trick fine

planning on running a 8 ohm dual cone from a old hifi system i had. the 8' sub in the parcel tray of my crown has suffered from sunlight. so wanting to run it off the amp. hard to get ahold of low power 8' subs in nz. all ive seen are more expensive to ship. in my head it makes sense that it will work because its 8ohm bringing the speakers down 2 2ohm and the 8' down to 4ohm once the bridge is done. might try it on a battery and spare headunit first.

dunno man, but car audio gear is very affordable if you know where to look, Why 8" subs? When I was younger I pulled apart some 2.1 computer speakers to my surprise were 4ohm, I tried to run the 8" sub in its original box (minus the powerpack) and wired to a 222 amp, I put it in my very first car (a ford laser lol) and well... it thumped nothing at all, lmao

though the same sub in my bedroom made the house shake, did nothing in the car ...

Oh, Well Celicas, Currens and Carinas have 8" door subs. They make no bass at all, and infact it would would better if they never existed at all. people normally hack them up to make a 6.5" to 8" adaptor plate.

you be better off wiring your 6x9 speakers into your head unit power, and using that amp to power a cheap little 10" sub in a box that u could buy for like 20 bux off a mate.
