4afe differences

Postby MR2SIK » Mon Jun 27, 2011 9:59 pm

Just wondering on the differences of a 4afe from a ae111 compared to a ae101. i.e what would be involved in fitting the later model engine into the 101 body?
Am i being overly hopeful in a straight swap?

I think the changes in the 4afe were a bit earlier than that.
Should be pretty straight forward if you use the sensors etc from the 101

True, would rather fork out $300 odd for a replacment engine, than upwards of a grand to fix the BHG on the current one.

280,000kms + woman driver

according to wikipedia, 1992-1998 is the same model engine, so that fits both cars in.

depends how reliable that info is though

engine is the same between ae101/ae111. but the wiring loom into the body is different. so either keep the 101 loom and plug it into the newer motor or just put a silvertop in it. :P

ae111 motors have a knock sensor that the ae101's dont. that is the only diffence physically.
use the manifolds, front pulley etc from the ae101 and away you go

101 coupe? as in trueno/levin etc?

i think the very last of the 101's 96/97 might have had them

Yep ae101 levin/trueno. This one had a knock sensor but you never really know if someone previously has swapped looms and the like previously.
