Hey all.
Ive recently swapped a 2zzge into my aw11 and I thought I had it all sussed. Everything appears to be working perfectly except that the motor does not come onto the high cam. Even so it feels awesome to drive, so much more torque than the blacktop had.
I'm running a fully stock 2zzge from my donor car (celica 2000) so factory motor and ECU. The intake manifold and throttle body are factory but the intake pipe is new, fully custom exhaust including headers. Oxy has been placed inside the final collector.
I have all of the sensors plugged in (Im pretty sure, will check again tomorrow), today I connected the celicas dash into the boot as I found somewhere on the internet saying that the speedo needed to be connected for the motor to hit lift, something about the ECU doesn't allow lift when in neutral and checks the cars not in neutral as the speedo is reading a speed. Originally I had my aw11's mechanical speedo cable connected but that meant the ECU didn't have a speed signal.
I have checked the water temp sensor is plugged in. ECU doesn't allow Lift when the motor is cold. My water tempt sensor is hooked up so I know the motor is warm enough.
I have opened the Oil Control Valve to clean the small oil filter in there. The OCV has a solenoid which opens an oil passage to lock the rockers onto the high cam.
I'm thinking a good step would be to figure out if its the ECU not telling the motor to hit lift or if the motor isn't hitting lift when it should be, would narrow it down to electrical or oil pressure. Unfortunately to do this I need to run the car up to 6000rpm and somehow see if the OCV solenoid is firing, not sure how to do this yet.
Running out of ideas and don't know where I should take the car for insight/help.
