Having idling problems with a 7AFE Carib, on a cold morning the idle will climb to 2000rpm and stay there until warm, then drop to 1700rpm and go no lower regardless of temp.
I unplugged (what I assume to be the water temp sensor?) the angled green plug to the right of the thermostat housing in this pic below (thanks Stalker!) and the cold idle immediately dropped to 1500rpm. We let the car warm up to normal temp, the idle was still 1500rpm so I plugged it back in, and the idle dropped to 800-900rpm, close enough to where it should be.
So I guess that its' the sensor that is bung, given that when I unplugged it cold then plugged it back in warm it idled properly? I assume that when I unplugged it, the ECU would have gone to 1500rpm as a default?
Secondly, maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, but I can't seem to find the sensor on toyodiy.. I'm kinda hoping that a similar year 4AFE would have the same sensor given that there are heaps of them at the wreckers, and bugger all 7AFEs, can anyone help on this?
