Whats this worth (wrecked)

Postby Subway » Thu Jul 21, 2011 8:45 pm

Had a bit of a prang in the weekend and insurance don't believe my story (was drinking earlier on in the night etc), anyway, its a 2002 AS200 Altezza, Auto, was a minter before the accident, but cant do much about that now. Would have live plates if someone wanted to give it a go repairing it.

Car has front chassis rail damage, bumper, bonnet, front guards, front suspension struts, its a write off purely on the chassis rails. Airbags havent gone off, really if the chassis rails werent creased then it would be repairable.
Headlights are still intact.

What would it be worth in parts/to a wrecker? does Turners damaged car auction usually get good prices?
Please don't pm me for prices for parts, im not interested at this stage, i dont have time or the space to wreck it for individual parts.

wreckers will give you 3/5ths of $&#$% all, due to the amount of work they will have to put in to recoup their costs. your best bet is to find someone that is capable of repairing it themselves like ^

Have a fish around and see if you can find a panelbeater friend / associate. Market rates if you walk in off the street might make your eyes water.

I was quoted approx $10k just for new chassis rails, panelbeater didnt want to use second hand rails which made up most of the cost

I have actually been keeping an eye on Damaged Altezza's as would like to re-shell my race car into one in theno to near future.

That's a recent damaged one that sold,

Bit hard to tell one your one with the one photo,
but round the $3k mark sounds right.

Don't have any photos of rails unfortunately.

Didnt contact the police as no one was injured, contacted insurance company in the morning (Didnt realise you had to contact property owner or police within 48 hours). Investigators now claim they are going to go to the bar and look at the cctv footage to see what id had to drink and work out whether I was over the limit, i dont think I was, needless to say, I shouldnt have driven if id had anything to drink.

Has anyone been through a similar process with insurance investigators?
