Napier to Gisborne its on the way home hills twist and turns for 215 odd km through about 4 gorges its a mint road for the person driving of course don't no about the passengers though. :lol:

Rallied it in the dark in 1978 from Clouston Park to Waikanae. Prick of a road. Doesn't flow well at all, many off camber corners.
Targa used it a few years ago but with some major slips undermining it, it's unlikely ever to be used again.

+1 That stretch of SH2 is awesome. Although I would go further and say Napier to Opotiki.

Its awesome in my Supra I have'nt met a hill my car doesn't like,Gotta love the torque monster it just keeps pulling and pulling I love it and my GF who normally is the passenger has grown to love it also.

Its the best road ive ever been on. Its in Chiang mai, northern Thailand.

Zoom in to see the states of the corners in it, just awesome.

Sooooo I just won the use of a rental car and $125 of gas per day for a week.
Might have to check out some roads.... Catch is it's a hybrid Camry

Shame that the Camry will probably be fitted with an anti-siphon device

would be pretty cool to put 7000 km on it in the week!

It is brand new.
The previous model Camry was actually a good car to drive. Just looked sooo ugly!
I'm not expecting this thing to be lots of fun though :lol:

Been for a ride in it and it seemed fine.
Will take a long time to get used to no engine noise when around town though! :lol:

Take a fuel line off at the engine, run hose to another tank.

Yes, I did the Targa Tour the one year when they had the Akatarawa Road as a stage. It sucked hard. Too tight, so it was lots of short bursts and sharp stabs on the brakes. Might be ok in a tiny low powered car (like a standard Mini 1000) where you don't have enough grunt to get any speed between corners and just relied on momentum.

As Bruce (Sollitt) commented, it just doesn't flow at all when you try to use it as a rally stage.

I think off the top of my head, it was a rainy day, and something like 7 cars stuck it into the scenery that day.

Now Paekakariki Hill, and Moonshine as stages .... omfg was that fun.

Been on Paekakariki Hill once. That would be a good road if I knew it better. Still have to try out Moonshine road. Heard it was good too.

Parts of Moonshine are very fun, some parts are as bad as the worst bits in the Akas though. Paekakariki Hill road is too populated now to really go for it.
Blenheim to St Arnaud to the West Coast is an awesome drive. Buller gorge is mega scenic

Moonshine as a closed road flows not bad (Hutt to Haywards direction). To my surprise even in the little AE92 we cracked over 150kph during the stage, which was a bit exciting.

I've only ever done that way once, and was at night. Haywards to Hutt isnt as much fun!
