Does the speed of the indicators have an impact on WOF?

Since changing indicators, they flash like buggery, even though all are accounted for.

If they do this, would this be something it could fail a WOF for?

Why might it think you have a bulb out if you don't? New lights use LEDs or something?

As for the wof thing, no idea, it might state in the VIRM.

16. When switched on, a direction indicator lamp:
a) does not operate, or
b) does not begin flashing within one second of
switching on, or
c) flashes:
i. faster than two flashes per second, or
ii. slower than one flash per second, or
iii. at a different rate from other lamps on the same
side.

We should really have a sticky to the whole VIRM, given that it can be a bit tricky to find sometimes!

Ugh. What a pain.

Previous indicators were from a 200SX, and had 21w bulbs, JDM ones have 5w bulbs

You will probably find those are parklights not indicators or only side indicators if they are only 5W, did the JDM ones have main indicators elsewhere? Mod to fit bigger bulbs?

As mentioned above, if they're 5W bulbs then they're not likely to be indicator bulbs. Either that or the wrong bulbs are fitted

I'd say if you were seen using some of those patterns, no. But others yes.

Needs to flash between certain rates. Can be a bulb out, wrong wattage, an led bulb or light, faulty flasher unit - easy to replace
You can get different flasher units for led lights

repco sells sold state or electronic flasher relays I believe they are called. they always flash at the same speed regardless of what size bulb you put in so that would fix the problem

Or you could chuck a resistor in there to correct the current draw and make them flash at the correct speed.

Should probably look into the whole park light/indicator situation though.
5w generally is only used for park/rego lamp/instrument cluster and interior lighting.

Found some of the bulbs I needed in 21w. Only problem was that they only had them in clear, not orange, and I have clear indicators.

No problem, down to the nearest model shop and picked up a small pot of enamel clear orange paint.

I now have proper speed indicators
