Its suprising how many people haven’t been up to Cape Reinga…….the final 20kms is brand new and stunning. But from Awanui just north of Kaitaia all the way up is really amazing scenery, good road (no trucks to ruin it) and bugger all tourist buses.
All I second Napier to Gisborne and then the Waiweka Gorge though to Opotiki. But it pays to do it in a powerful car as overtaking is really hard in anything less than 500hp

It's allowed on cars. The mesh is classed as a tint and so the tint laws apply to it.

You mean you don't turn around to pick them up?

bzzzt wrong.
It's a sticker and not allowed.
Note 5 Perforated overlays are usually made from printed-on materials. They are therefore not transparent and may be fitted only
where stickers are allowed.

Depends what time you get there...tourist buses arrive at the cape at around midday, so leave Kaitaia before 10 and you'll be fine. Dont think the roads are that great, but the Mangamuka ranges is awesome
