Little metal joiner things in timing belt

So i'm busy trying to get timing belt onto 3sgte when I feel something funny under my fingers.. so I take a squiz, and there is a row of little metal looking things across the belt (sorta like a staple type thing).

I haven't changed many timing belts, but i've never noticed these before so before I go and keep putting shit together then have a timing belt fail I thought I'd ask the locals.. are these normal or should I be ordering a TGP belt monday morning?





I'm wondering if they are normally hidden inside the belt and a manufacturing f'up has left them exposed?

I've seen them occasionally on belts, but usually not. What brand is it?

Its a Mitsuboshi belt.

Mitsuboshi is a good brand, should be OK.
Many OEM belts are made by them.
