Wow they must have changed something in the compound as the ones in my car dont work too well when cold, but theyre acceptable if you know their behaviour. Just have to push them alot harder until a little bit of heat gets into the system.

Couldnt agree more on the noise and dirt too, I clean my wheel and without fail, get out when I stop the car and wipe a solid line throught the black dust :( Note to self...get wheel wax

Not all cars are the same when it comes to how well they like different compounds of brake pad material. The car that was daily driving 1166 pads was an N15 Pulsar.

Back when I worked in rental cars we used to run metalking pads in all the Mazda Familia autos (otherwise they would go through pads way fast) and they were perfectly good to drive.

Put the same pads in my AE92, you've got zero pedal feel and a slightly scary car to drive.

Also, my AE92 ran Mintex 1166 pads, and loved them right from cold (the rotors didn't!!!), the rear pads are still the 1166 pads that went in back in 2004.

I completely agree with you Leon, every car reacts differently to brake compounds.

Surprisingly, my rotor wear has been acceptable with the low speeds the M1166 sees when I occasionally drive it on the road, but I have finally got some TRD front pads to use for street driving to try and get a bit more bite from cold, and less dust/wear.

I've been fairly stoked with the TRW pads I put in (recommended by a few TSers).

They're a little noisy for the first couple stops (litereally 1 to 2 stops) and then they're fine.

Haven't tried them on a track yet, but I got them smoking on some back roads and they were still performing.

Bit late to the show here, but anyone had any experience with Pagid "Blue" RS4-2 pads?

I believe I have a set of those pads in my ae92, nothing astonishing but I have never cooked them with hard road use

These will provide the biggest smile.

I would probably look at the XP8's for a hard driven daily that sees a bit of track work..
but being a fairly light car an not making epic HP you could possibly go for an AX6.

I'm running Bosch Ultra in my AW track car. No issues with fade and work well from cold. Can't tell you about on road performance. Available from Masterparts and seem to be good value.
See ya
