Gen 3 3SGTE dipstick

How long is one of these compared to gen 2? Have put ~4l into my motor, and it shows just above low on the dipstick. I assume the Gen 3 is longer to go into the steel bowl?

Sorry for hijack, here is related question:
I have gen1 dipstick that is not sealing properly, what is the length of gen2 dipstick, as I cannot get brand new genuine gen1 3SGTE dipstick (discontinued)...

If i shove a 4L Magnatec in the turbo, it gets to half way up the dipstick.

If i shove a 4L Magnatec in Bree's gen3, it gets to the top.

Might go compare if you want?

Gen 2 dip stick is ~390mm, give or take maybe 5mm. Mine is a touch bent.

Odd that a turbo takes that much more than a Gen 3 NA? I guess it would take a little more, but hmmm.
Edit: Quick Google finds that ST205's take 5.2L from a dry fill 8O

FYI GEN3 MR2 dipstick (and tube) is different from Celica dipstick (and tube). Different curve to go round alternator.

SW20 Gen 3 (15301-88461): 546mm grommet to tip, 496mm grommet to full, 519mm grommet to empty
ST205 (15301-88480): 499mm grommet to tip, 449 grommet to full, 473mm grommet to empty

It looks like this same part was used on all 3SGE and 3SGTE SW20s from 1989-1999?

However if you compare these, you see the dipstick tube has different part numbers:

The ST205 one, however, is exclusive to the ST205 it would seem.

double edit: I thought I was using the MR2 one, but now I look at it I'm using the short one, so I have a spare Gen 3 MR2 dipstick (which is generic to all MR2s) and tube (which isn't). The next question is - will it bolt to the Gen 2 thermostat housing?

I'm going to go and measure the length that protrudes from the bottom of the dipstick tube, this should be more telling...

Judging by the pic it would be a safe bet to say no it wouldnt, but the shape of the Gen 3 tube is fairly similar to what I've had to bend mine to fit around the oil cooler.
Dipstick isnt the same across Gen 2/3, if you look at the part numbers on both those pages the stick they're different. Makes sense, as going by your measurements the Gen 2 is closer to the ST205 in length, though I measured from the yip of the stick to the beginning of the rubber

Ok the length extending below the bottom of the dipstick tube - is roughly the same for both, 112mm to full and 136 to empty. I checked my Gen 2 one and it was around 95mm to full, BUT mine is all on the piss and isn't the original dipstick, possibly not the original dipstick tube and possibly isn't the right length!

God damn I have a lot of 3SGTE bits in the garage.

It looks like the Gen 3 thermostat housings are the same across all models, the two I have on engines both look the same, toyodiy has the same part number for Gen 3 SW20 and ST205, and the other one I have from a Gen 3 3SGE (from a Carina) is the same too. I will go and see if it fits one of my Gen 2 water pumps...

Doh! Though welding a tab to extend the bracket isnt exactly a major.
