Twisted seatbelt

Postby celica_xr9145 » Sat Jan 07, 2012 10:28 pm

Are there any tricks to untwisting a seatbelt?

Failed a wof on it, before I take it apart just want to hear if there are any tricks.

Google tells me to fold the twist and push it through but just doesn't happen.

Are there any tricks.

Thanks,
Jamie

That's what it says on the warrent sheet. When you get in and put your belt on, there is a twist between the socket and the part where the belt goes behind the panel, if you see what I mean.

I've never really noticed it until he said, still retracts fine.

pics please. if the buckle is twisted around, then you need to fold the belt on a tapered angle and force it through the buckle gap until the fold goes all the way through and the buckle is around the right way

Before you do all that, if there is a twist in the belt, try pulling it out completely to see if there is a matching twist further up the belt somewhere.

Otherwise, if its just the buckle facing the wrong way (ie. buckle is between belt and b-pillar when retracted) then as mentioned above, fold belt on long angle along length of belt, pull buckle over fold. I usually pull the belt out a bit then tug it so it locks, then you can pull the buckle over the fold using the locked belt to make it easier.
