He imported a Gen V turbo from memory, which is not exactly what I would call common on NZ roads.

Turns out the vehicle I'm after doesn't pass frontal impact laws and although there wernt a huge number of will VS made I don't think its collectible.
The GT4 is to Celicas what the GTR is to skylines.

He's right though isn't he? The only thing that is collectable about an MR2 is all the bits that fall off it whilst you're driving.

He probably is, how ever it seems the only times OP ever partake's in a conversation is deliver bad news, or to tell you its not possible, or that it won't be able to be certified.

You do know where Leon works right? And going by the criteria, I would say it meets:
  • The vehicle is and was manufactured as a two-door coupe or convertible
    (evidence must be supplied with this application
  • The vehicle is and was manufactured as a high performance vehicle
    (evidence must be supplied with this application
  • The vehicle (or its make, model and sub-model is identified as being a collector’s item in one of the following
    magazines (or its respective website)

How about the will vs? guessing that wont meet enough of the criteria for siv?

i would have to thoroughly check. I have this sneaking suspicion that there may have been a trd equipped model with trd supercharge. If this is the case then i may have a winner. Whether i can afford it or not is another story....

does anyone know if a jzx100 chaser tourer v in factory manual would meet the requirements?

they are rare as in NZ and people just ask ludicrous amounts for converted ones even

2) Make model submodel of that year under 20k (almost certainly)

What defines high performance? 180bhp factory from a 1.8 na isnt bad, couple it with a TRD supercharger and it would be fairly high performance.... but i guess it's all relevant isn't it. Power to weight. So 200-220bhp isn't really alot on paper but not bad in real life.

What does knee taste like? You certainly have your foot that far down your throat.

Leon reviewed the SIV, and additional exemptions, on behalf of NZTA (as in he worked for NZTA on SIV's) on my TVR Cerbera. Admitedly not as common as a MR2, but Leon certainly knows the process!!!

You can also pre-empt the process by discussing it with the SIV team. From memory they allowed me to apply for one prior to purchase (however once I had confirmation it would pass I simply bought one, then applied).
