Keeping in mind that this is a daily run around.. not keen on running meth/water injection... I would rather just play with intercooler/turbo/ fuelling than upgrade the fuelling system...

Loses the point of been a cheap run around then doesnt it?

I had planned to just run it on an off/on switch and when it is switched on have it governed by a repeat cycle timer. So I can set the frequency and duration of the spraying and it would be easier enough to change if need be.

Repeat cycle timers can be had for $15 on ebay so cheap and I dont have to fiddle with soldering etc.

I dont think so, it'll cost you around $400 for the pump, a solenoid, a nozzle and a bit the tubing required. nothing that you could do for under $1000 or more will give you the same benefits.

On my landcruiser i would say i'm gaining 80Nm+ at the flick of a switch.

pretty much anyway you rig up a intercooler water sprayer will result in great piles of water being used for bugger all gain. Put a digital inlet temp guage on your vehicle, drive a few hundred k's with it and you will see why.

was reading through all these complicated solutions, seems like the obvious option to me & Considerably easier that silicon chips etc

in my race car i just re-plumbed the washer bottle to a sprayer and just sprayed on the straights, worked a treat

This is the last part of the autospeed article http://www.autospeed.com/cms/article.html?&A=0578 but yeah, the shop doesn't sell the kit. I think it was also in his book too.

Did you log pre and post intercooler temps? If so what were the results?

Thanks

Are you allowed to use them on the track? Circuit and/or drag?

Could run into problems if you leave puddles. So nozzle choice is important.

Yeah that's what I was thinking

I'm 90% sure they are not allowed, or at least you're not allowed to use them, at Meremere. Not sure about circuit tracks though....?

Just make sure to use a check valve so when its not on, it doesnt dribble.

you could just use a capacitor resistor time delay circuit(like for your interior light in your car how it dims out after you close the door. simple ciruit and you can make it adjustable. just my 2c

I am also of this opinion, last time I checked, you cannot use an intercooler water sprayer, because it could leave water on the track.
But a quick look in the motorsport manual and I couldn't see anything. :?

Would probably be up to the officials. If they see water dripping from your car it could be Image

I think the imperitive thing is to not spray too much.

Thats why logging pre and post intercooler temps is important, so you can see your initial temps, then when you are at WOT for a lap or two, and see if the core starts to heat soak, and then spray accordingly.

Its not like you need to hose the thing down so its literally dripping with excess water. An extremely fine mist will do a great job of shedding excess heat and shouldnt drip anything anywhere.

also better to put some form of alcohol in the mixture so it evaporates faster sucking out more temp with it.

I doubt IC water spray systems are banned anywhere. Lots of factory cars use them. You are just as likely to have a leak in windscreen washers, headlight washers, cooling system etc

Then im confused.
Fluids dripping off your car can get you told off at track events.
So quite possible a home made ic sprayer that drops water will be an issue.
As will any failed system that is leaking.

Why would it be dropping water? If it leaks fix it. An IC spray nozzle physically won't flow enough at once to create a puddle at racing speeds. If it has a problem then it needs fixing. Evo's don't leave puddles everywhere they go and certainly aren't banned from motorsport venues.
