Hiace fuses? Success!

Postby FST4RD » Mon Mar 26, 2012 3:09 pm

Work vans dash lights aren't going anymore. It's a 2001 hiace.
Can't find the fusebox though. I drive it at night so don't get a good chance to look. I found the box with the relays and stuff in it in the middle under the dash. Where is the other one?
Also can anyone else tell me if the dash light fuse is connected to anything else in the van and what amp fuse it takes?
Thanks

Just had a quick look. To the left of the clutch pedal. 10A for guage, which I assume is what you're after. Soon find out when you pull the cover off anyway.

Tail lights are on the same fuse as dash lights for some toyotas. Most frequent cause of this is someone using the illumination wire as an earth when putting a new stereo in.

It stays outside all the time, and it has been raining quite heavily recently. Why's that?

water gets in behind the window washers, an tracks down in to the main fuse box. a former employer used to aggressively wash the rentals and this was often the outcome.

unclip the drivers side washer, straighten the clip out and seal the washer to the front of van.

history proved that you get a couple of shots at it before electrolisis ?? sets in a corrodes the tracks inside box thus requiring replacement.

Well checked the "gauge" fuse and it's fine. Was very clean, put it back in after wiping gt and no good still. Everything in the fuse box looked very dry.
Wouldn't be any other fuse?
Perhaps the dash bulb is blown? I would assume that if there are more then 1 bulb it's either a coincidence they blew at the same time or there is a wiring problem?

have a look at the dash dimmer switch if you have it... might not be connected or broken.

Success! After finding that the van didn't have a dimmer i got frustrated and hit the top of the dash above the gauges... And well I'll be jiggered the lights came back on! I hit it kinda hard so all good. Must have been a loose connection.
