Custom aluminium sump, how thick?

Postby hsmidy » Tue Apr 10, 2012 12:29 am

Hey guys

so i need to put togeather an aluminium sump for my engine conversion.

My question is how thick should the aluminium be for where it mounts to the bottom of the engine and for the sides of it?.

You could increase the mounting flange to something like 5mm, or even 6mm. Just to keep that nice and strong. everything else I would probably use 3mm.

Mounting flanges i use 10 or 12mm, Depending on the size and if it will need skimming or not

The sump body i use either 2 or 3mm depending on what i have
