wiring coil packs into aw11 4agze

Trying to find a wiring diagram to help me wire in my coil packs onto my 4agze engine loom. engine was out of a 86-87 aw11.

use a mitsubishi 7 pin ignitor. have looked in the haynes manuals for both corolla and aw11 but can't find the correct color wiring. if anyone can help me that would be awesome, or even someone in wellington that can lend a hand for a moment it would be much appreciated, can supply couple of cold ones in return

What ECU are you using ?? AFAIK to run coilpacks you need either...

1. GZE coilpack ECU + GZE coilpack igniter + coilpacks, or...

2. Aftermarket ECU + 2-channel dumb igniter + coilpacks.

The GZE coilpack igniter gets a "flip-flop" signal from the GZE
coilpack ECU, which tells it which coilpack to fire. I'm pretty sure that
the GZE dissy version ECU does not provide this signal.

An aftermarket ECU can be set up to provide two ignition signals
which are used to fire each channel of the 2-channel igniter. I used
a Subi igniter, but the Mitsi one will work just as well.

am using the gze ecu from the aw11, so i take it i cant run the coil packs unless i get the ae101 gze ecu or run an aftermarket ecu?

You need a GZE ECU and igniter from an engine that ran coilpacks
from the factory. If your AW11 came factory with a dissy, then it
won't have the IGD (flip-flop) signal from the ECU. It will also have
an ordinary single channel igniter.

If the AE101 GZE came from the factory with coilpacks, then you will
need an AE101 GZE ECU and igniter. Sorry, I'm not really into GZE
models, but I think that covers it

yea mine has a dizzy so thinking best option is to put the dizzy back in and use it, wrap it in heat wrap to protect it from the turbo manifold

theres no real disadvantage to using a dizzy on a 4agte is there?

My 7agte still had dizzy on it and didn't have any issues or even slight melting of the cap. Guess a different manifold could yield different results.

Should have the little heatshield/oil pool catcher on there anyway.

It'll work just fine for anything you can run off the standard GZE ECU.
Out there in fantasy land, legend has it that when you are looking
for the last 0.05% on your 32psi 500kW monster, you need to run
coil packs.

I run coilpacks on my N.A. 16V just because I can I did not expect
and did not find any measureable advantage over the dissy I was
running before. But it looks cool and has a bit of wank factor. Put it
on your list of things to do after you get the engine running on the
stock components.

yea im thinking i just use the dizzy as is and if it starts to melt the cap ill make a heat shield up for it and replace the cap
