so im bored of commuting, i live in mt cook and drive my suzuki van to karori every day, i would bike but i work as a tree surgeon and biking up to karori is too exhausting for me to then slay giants

sooooooo


im building an electric bicycle and need a reduction gear system for it... many starter motors have such a system, so wondering if anyone here has a buggered starter motor they would like to donate to the cause of science!

i can come and pick up from anywhere in welly, i kinda need to get this gearing sorted before i buy up big on lipos, motors and speed controllers

if anyone here is interested by such a proqject ill get it all photographed and documented for people to check out

should be easier to build than my sensory deprivation tank proqject

If you have a bicycle with a total max power output of greater than 300 watts, it's a moped and the cops will have words with you about it.

300 watts off my legs on the karori hills sounds like relief to me(te aro climb kills me), my lipo battery i plan on using only has 177watt hours, so although my motor may be capable of doing such speeds, i coulid only maintain 300w for 35 min as it is

Just pick a part that shit. There should be heaps out there and then you would have a choice.
The GT4 is to Celicas what the GTR is to skylines.

You'd be better off with a direct drive hub motor.
I'm in the process of building/evolving my electric bike, currently running a 72V system with a 1000w rear hub motor, not exactly legal, but the rules mean that a legal e-bike would be pretty much useless in Wellington (unless you somehow manage to stick to the flat). Mine gets me up Ngaio gorge at around 45kph pedal assisted. have a look at http://ev.geek.nz for some good info on what people are building. talk to Daryl @ www.EVlab.co.nz for motors etc (he's based in Upper Hutt).

hey thanks 2tonetezza, sounds like you have an intense setup, my battery and stuff showed up, but i think im going to go v belt to chain drive for power so far, its a 2.7kw brushless RC motor but i want be using half of that
