Interesting they have gone for the NZV8s as opposed to the Supertourers.
I dont follow either closely, but thought alot of the top guys had ditched the V8s for the super tourer class?

Several reasons. Mainly politics.
Also only a couple of places left in STs.

Nice!

Watched a promo video the other day for the new NZV8's and noticed they made special mention that the cars are built so that Toyota or Nissan could have cars.

Oh and STs don't allow different makers engines. No way Toyota will race with a chev engine

does seem like a toyota without a toyota engine is a toyota in name only - which might be why they are not entering the ST like why revvy said.

Um, you are very wrong there.

the engine thing will stop Toyota having official involvement in STs.
The politics will stop this team having anything to do with the STs.
Lot of dodgy deals and quite a bit of hatred gone on there!

How about we let the courts see what they believe to be dodgy and not so dodgy aye?

But agree that there's a lot of hatred going on from both sides of the fence, hopefully to be repaired in years going on.

Kinda cool to see Toyota entering at least. Perhaps we'll see similar accross the ditch in the not too distant future?

NZV8s are actually going forward and are getting engine upgrades for the Ford and Holdens ........... to keep up with Toyota (and Nissan if they come to play).

NZV8s are also aligned to V8SC in Oz, and are sanctioned to run at their events, and share some body components.
NZST may have acquired (aye Warwick  ) the same chassis as V8SC, but are not allowed to use aero package and will have a common (abliet unreliable) Chev motor for both Holden and Ford.

by this time next year, it will be known if all the hype and hoopla of NZST's has done REAL damage to NZV8s, as one class is limited by franchises and body shape, the other could be a well flogged dead-horse, but potentially can rise from the turmoil and return as the better class with new blood and new body makes.

From a total outsiders perspective, to me its all about the motorsport, not the politics behind it that matters.
It seemed like there was a push for more modern V8's in NZ(from some racers, and the viewing public), and it seemed like it was going to happen, then there was the inevitable pushback from those that wanted to stay the way it was, cue some back and forth arguments about who was right, and then the progress group got sick of waiting around for progress to happen, and went out on their own and setup their series(NZV8ST), and then the other(BNTNZV8) decided they needed to play catch up.
End result, total confusion for the consumer (the race watching public), and the sponsors etc, basically a total shit fight.

But usually the first to the market, has the momentum to carry them on, and win the day.

Basically I guess what it boils down to is a pissing fight between two spoilt brats to see who has the biggest, and the consumer is the looser at the end of the day, and has to pick sides.

Good on TNZ entering a new class for them, hope they've picked one that works for them.
But isn't it soon that the TNZ commitment to the TRS runs out, is it a case of expansion, or switching where the money goes?

Here how I see it:
Holden will have to come up with a four cam 4 valve per cylinder design pretty quick or it will be left in dust.

the reasoning behind it is that for toyota 5L v8 to produce 500hp is piss easy due to proper head design (engine out of IFS is already at 420Hp it stock form) and they will be able to run this engine all day at that power output. Not only that, but it will do it very efficiently (compared to two valve pushrod dinosaurs).

Now achieving 500Hp out of 5L chevy boat anchor is another feat altogether (requires stupidly big cams).

Although they seem to set pretty stupid limitations (must be carby, must be limited at 6400rpm etc.) just to make the boat anchors appear competitive.

V8ST is not as good on the inside as it looks from the outside.
It is having more dramas than what you see.
The guy that owns the series started the revolt agaist the promoter of the NZV8's
and now that he is the promoter of the new series the teams will soon revolt against his way of management too.

The BNTV8's will get there in the end. May take a year or two but the NZV8's will be hitting there best when the V8ST are just falling apart as a series.

From what I believe the dinosaur teched holden and ford engines are too to be replaced with probably the Coyote quad cam in the fords and an injected holden motor too.

Petch is NZST. Therefore I'm NZV8, regardless of my other issues with their organisation.

Can't stand the guy, can't stand his "ethics". Ten foot pole.
