Migs and tanks and hinds!

Yeah it would, but it was all offered with no support, and to be honnest I don't think it was the best stuff, I think it was well or slightly used stuff that they just wanted to get rid off as they could no longer afford to maintain it. Had it been a few years earlier, we probably would have brought it and transferred it straight to the yanks, in return for new fighters etc.

We would have had to sell a lot of butter to get a squadron of MIGs.
Ending up with spare parts in assembling things since 1983

Hind = one of coolest looking choppers ever I reckon.

Never cared much for any of the russian jets though.

Some of the WW2 planes were cool.

Anyone ever noticed that for a while, car trends follow aircraft trends with about a 30 year delay?

40s planes / 70s cars = curvey and awesome looking

50s jets / 80s cars = designed with a set square

60s jets / 90s cars = generic looking bars of soap

CBF cherrypicking examples to suit my gross generalisation though :p

I am sorry i dont know much about military equiptment. My father would he has major in soviet army.
Sergi would remember this too, been in school and doing drills about what would happen when the imperilist united states of america and her puppet goverments came to destroy us. We hid under desk from air raid drill and knew where to go to defend the country. We were assigned a bridge about 10 minute run from school. If the imperialist forces got through the frontline we were told to go there and stop them. Funny part was we had no weapons.

Lucky the imperilist goverments never came to destroy us. They always wanted to but we were too strong back then maybe. We did have a lot of tanks and planes. I always seen them around.

The bourgeoise always wanted our land and reasources. I guess the united states of america was unable to tatically win and invasion of the ussr. I remember going to red square for the big military shows and been impressed at how the state guarded me and my family from western aggression and invasion.

"Imperialist" did came to destroy "us" and succeeded. Their weapons? Perestroika, Glasnost and human nature.

Do I regret it? Not really. As for Russia, it is more capitalist now than USA, not that is good at all.

I thought we ruined it with democracy and the gift of choice?

sorry i keep making mistake.
Lada rally car have suspesion we made in workshop. Ihave all plans with me here so could remake here and make good setup.

The car fuel was 100 octane which make less detonation compared to 95 octane so we could run high compression

There is when your cams are made out cheese ;).
Tappet work better (last longer) on cams that are made out of low grade steel (that is found in Lada).
Very common problem in Lada was it would eat cam shaft in phenomenal time.

It is all about leverage.

camshaft are not made out of cheese. Why would you make it out of cheese. Camsfaft we use is made from new billet profiles.

Lada have camshaft profile very aggressive which makes idle hard.
Road lada have very good profile. Issue was with fiat design, lada could never get to work right

Yeah, but can you say the same about cam shafts that came from factory?

Here is a question for you:
If you were buying a car for day-to-day activities, getting A to B sort of thing, what would you choose:
A) Brand new "classic" 2105 Lada.
B) 10yo Toyota Corolla with 100,000kms on the speedo.
Providing the cost of both vehicles is same (which would be) and Corolla is in good condition.

the choice is easy. The lada 2105 as it is rear wheel drive and had more potential for my daily drive to be fun.
The classic 2105 has good looks and the later ones had better engine. Some even turbocharged. Sure has some quality issue but didnt stop people buying fiat and lancia. People buy subaru even if they know thier build quality is pour and gearbox weak.

The 5 port 1300 and 1600 pre 81 were very strong engines. Sure only make max 91hp. The post 81 8 port like in photo has very strong block and good head. Conecting rods and bolts were not as strong as earilier models. Power is 105hp.
4afe verus 0518b (1600 8 port) and both make same hp, but lada can make 190hp 4afe cant.

Camshaft issue easy fix, add rally pack when buy or aftermarket one, not expensive.

Lada 4 speed is bullet proof, cant break, have tried. 5 speed is much better but not as common. 6 speed never had issues with in all rally cars i have built. Same with lada engine.

also lada use alluminum for brakes. Not such a good idea. They have from factory very bad brake ability. Alluminum is bad choice of material.
Thats why vfts car use 4 piston front and back and big brake disc.

Would you buy lancia stratos or lancia delta intergarle? I would cause both cars are legend. But both are badly design and made, that makes them even better. Same with lada. Lada 2105 vfts and lancia stratos or delta both same. Born to do 1 thing, win

Lada was built during a communist regime. The State had their own criteria for a car for the masses, so it had to be very cheap. Quality Control wasn't of any great importance to them. Japanese have pioneered quality control systems and hence most leading car manufacturers have copied/studied the Toyota manufacturing process.

When you spend the money on any car modifying it with aftermarket parts, you could turn any crappy car into supercar performance.

I am not saying Lada is a bad car or anything, but considering it was designed in the 50's/60's, you could only compare it to similar cars of that age.

For a modern car, Lada is far too outdated. I guess there is a sense of pride and a cult following with them, but personally I have never liked them.

I would buy a stratos or delta in a second, great cars.

lada was built by communists? I always thought it was a party (hahahahah i make joke, cause comunist party. Haha)

sergi the lada maybe not as bad as you think. Toyota ake good cars but also lots and lots of plain borning cars. Ae101 with 2e engine. I prefer the 2105 over 2e corolla.

Also remember lada makes all wheel drive turbo cars now too based on the escort cosworth and are just as good.
