jeez Callum, i'm not even silly enough to want both of them under the hood.

1 would suffice, and sub 200kg, unless thick walled headers!!!

My car would get close to this with a dose of E85 i reckon..

Also fit XR6T to KP6* and a decent fuel system should get well over 300 & up towards 400KW.. will be shit to drive though...

Trust me you don't want more than about 250kw in a starlet, more HP does not always make it any quicker in every day situations.
current cars:
Evo 4 230Kw atw
1971 mini.
79 bugeye 245kw atw.
Evo powered mx5 under construction

Mini clubman with a v-tec motor in it. It is fwd, but you could easily do it for under your budget and then spend big money modding motor, brakes etc. Plus it's going to handle better then most cars and perform better too. My mates mod proves that.
Either that or Mini with a hayabusa motor in the back driving the rear wheels. Been done quite a few times.

I would roll a Vq35dett in a FC. Bulk power, mean looks and great handling.

Would take the 15k, buy a AE92 race car for 5-6k already build and spend the rest entering events and having a good time while others sit back and talk about unrealistic builds with random numbers that would never work in the real world

It was not random. It was all about rounding up to the nearest hundred, then adding more just for good measure. It had to be more than 153kw, but not 200kw because I know what that's like. So what is more than 200kw? 300kw! And if 300kw is good, 400kw must be better! Right? Right!? 8)

And this is imaginationland, there is no 15k

Oh, I read 15k. That might buy me a Chevy V8 of some sort that would be reliable and powerful.

Looking at the event on the weekend I dont think you could go past something like a Altezza or better still a Honda S2000 with a Chev engine.

In reality though 15k will buy you nothing that will be both powerful, light and competitive and most importantly safe, a decent cage and safety equipment like seats, harness etc will run near that alone.

Just saying.

I do like dreaming but forgetting numbers and actually racing is much more fun :D

Id most certainly be swinging towards an S13 with an RB30DET.

Or an MX5 running a 26B Quad Rotor

I read 15K too.

In that case my FC or S13 will have a stupidly insane NA LS2 in it instead of a cast iron smallblock with a huffer

Might be slightly over budget, but meets the 300Kw and <800kg specs, along with being an awesome racer (and able to be made road legal too)

Say you wanted to build a road legal race car. ^
Maximum wet weight of 1000kg. bugger - 1100kg
You would use an aftermarket computer. Don't think it really needs one
Rear wheel drive TICK
It must have NO LESS than 400kw atw Bugger, still not enough power
You want to build this as inexpensively as possible. (imaginary figure of 10-15k Rolling Eyes ) Fine, buy the car, use the 15k to buy a car cover..
The engine must not be a grenade. The new cars combust in a ball of flame, never heard the older models doing it - will be fine
Most of the work you can do yourself(except machining). I'm sure you'll be able to change the brake rotors yourself. hmm.. 8k on car cover, 7k for brakes and fluids :)
