3sgte steering pump belt popped off today

Postby slammed_integral » Thu Jun 14, 2012 7:35 pm

is this a common problem? the belt came off its pulley today while driving the car and it wasnt that sweet.

i jacked the car up and put the belt back on and re-tightened it to the right tension, so everything is all good but does it happen often? anyone here had it happen?

car is st246 caldina wagon trubo

I've never had that happen on any of the st205's with 3sgte's I've had. As long as the pulleys are aligned, which shouldn't be an issue there is no reason for it to come off - possibly it was loose

My friend snapped his powersteer belt on his ST185, although he was being a dumbshit at the time.

Was the V of the belt all shiney or worn on one side? Probably been slipping for a long time getting looser and looser, did it squel? Did you just ignore the squelling? :)
