4AGE water pipe - whats this for?

Postby gmacrae » Sun Jul 01, 2012 10:45 pm

Can anyone tell the the purpose of the small steel water hose that runs from the thermo housing under the intake manifold to the radiator pipe housin on the front of the motor. What's it for exactly? Cold thermo bypass? Is it necessary? I'm not running any heater or throttle coolant pipes.

Cheers

Street engine, thermostat? Yes it's necessary to circulate coolant.

Hey,

Just wondering if this is a 16 Valve 4A motor with the starter motor on the intake side of the gearbox?

I'm putting in a C160 with a Bigport (AE82) and want to try and fit a starter on the intake side. Looks like it fits on your motor?

Thanks, Al

Hey, yep it's a aw11 mr2 - 4a-gze. The starter is on the intake side factory. I put a c160 with silvertop in my ae92 with the starter on the intake side. I cant remember if the c160 had both starter humps or just intake side - it will fit there though, the engine blocks dont care where the starter sits, you just gotta have a bell housing to accommodate it (which you should have with the c160).
