I would not touch factory airbox. Only thing I would try to improve is how the airbox is fed (there are narrowings and enclosures designed to muffle induction noise).

Specifically the size and location of the pipe where AFM is bolted is very important.

Could you get away with removing the sharp edges from the factory airbox and, as Sersei said , avoid playing with the area where the air flow meter goes? Putting a panel filter in/>? Haven't seen any intake setups for these so it's a bit hard to get good useful info on it.

I just run a hks panel filter in mine and looks like someone has removed the resonator in the front left guard (unless the 2ZZ versions dont come with them?)

Injen make a kit for them I understand they are one of the better kits and yield good results.

I Have an Injen intake on mine, works a treat. Good gains across the board. and a great sound. You'll have to block the air pump hole like in the picture above with somthing like a chair/stool leg cap. the air pump is for injection on USDM models etc...

best plae to buy them is amazon.com or ebay with the exchange rate at the moment it would be resonable too.
