Need someone in Hamilton to help a bro out :)

Postby jondee86 » Wed Jul 11, 2012 10:40 pm

As said, is there any 4age guru in Hamilton who could spare a bit
of time to help a 4AGE noobie get his engine running ? Sounds
like it has a timing problem and maybe some electrical niggles. The
usual starts, gives one rev and dies... but sometimes can struggle
on for a few more seconds... dies if you try to open the throttle kind
of thing.

Nothing in for ya except the warm glow of satisfaction from helping
a 4AGE bro get his car working :)

PM me or post a contact number here, and I'll put you in touch.

Cheers... jondee86

Might be in Hamilton weekend of 21st, but not sure what spare time / transport I'll have though.

What model 4age?

Probably something like faulty TPS, bung ECU or like you say the timing.

This here is his tale of woe....

http://forums.club4ag.com/zerothread?id=108994

Seems the engine is not far off running, but one or more small problems
are getting in the way. Just needs a logical approach to eliminating each
possible cause, until you find the issue. As said, I'm guessing timing, but
ther could be something else involved. Engine is TVIS 16V 4AGE into a
KP... with a bit of mix n match on the loom.

If you want I can PM you his email so you can touch base.

I'd be looking at the engine start relay not keeping the fuel pump running after the engine has started. Bridge it in the diagnostic box and see how it goes then.
See ya
