$17.5k for those is a bit of a pisstake.

US$3,800 msrp for porsche gt3 front brakes,
convert to NZ$ then double it (just for fun) and it's still only just over HALF the price of the trd kit 8O

Keep forgetting to check the price of the Ceramic brake option at work.

Yeah, typical TRD RRP really. Still, only $20k extra for the TRD version, far more reasonable.

East cape knocked of in yesterday's 700k drive. Brakes stopped me for all the corners. Return trip about to kick off. Seats are great over long driving time, awesome support considering there is no harness holding me in.
If you look quickly out there you may see the 86 in fun mode.

You wouldn't want to get the TRD brakes for that price. Just get standard model, buy the optional kit (minus the horrible aero wing), buy some new wheels and a Brembo brake kit -- sorted

It makes it seem a steal, especially since they are only offering 20. Or perhaps that's why they're only offering 20, as the losses on it otherwise would be huge.

I remember my auntie breaking a fog light on her AMG SLK with a rabbit and it only being $50 including fitting for the dealer to replace it, yet it was something rediculous like $200ish for a new spot for a fxgt, plus fitting.
Makes buying a luxury car almost seem cheap in comparison.

Shaken Reg: None
Auction Date: 7/24/2012 12:00:00 AM

my understanding is; Their initial production run will be 20 but if demand is high enough they are going to build more to order .

I think I'd rather save the $11,500 on the brakes and put it towards other TRD goodies like: suspension, member bracing, sway bar, strut tower bracing etc.

Thats just typical TRD mark-up though I no when I bought my TRD product for my Supra which I have in spades normally you could chat with your parts guy and see as much as 30-40% off Toyota retail pricing as they are very generous with the sky high mark ups on there product.

Mind you its all dependent on what sought of customer relationship you have with your parts dealer and if they have decent contact within TNZ I no when I was buying product there was a guy at TNZ we used to go through for everything and he was very good at passing on extremely friendly discounts unfortunately he is no longer with TNZ though.

Good spotting. Was indeed me. The state you saw it in, it had definetly lost its red sparkle. Took a bit to clean it up this morning, nothing a good soak and water blast too solve. The gleam has returned to the car, as for the smile on my dial it will be hard to beat that for a drivers trip. Left with 7km on clock back with 1450km.
I have re-gained my faith in Toyota sports cars, as it's been so long for a new model.
86 must be driven on back roads with as many corners as possible. I think I found them all on the East side. :D

So you did the proper East Cape through Ruatoria etc and didn't lose the car in a pothole?
Weekend always helps up that way, less logging trucks to kill you. Although I thought the crappiness of the road was a bit overhyped after I came back that way in my Starlet when the Gorge first got closed back in March.

Well it just so happens there was a bit of go pro action going on.
Don't think I can share any of the footage thou, R18.
Maybe some but will have to edit out all the junk.
Yes I know it's been long overdue some of my in car footage from other events, but the first video is really hard to beat.
If I find the time I'll put some of the Targa stages from Bambina 2011 up from around coromandel.

I noticed somewhere it said that the cusco rear diff cover also fits some previous toyota 8" diff housings. I wonder if its got a g series diff, would certainly make changing ratios a bit easier!
