Not quite correct. With a good electronic boost controller you can get 18psi in all gears. Stock boost control shouldn't have that much of an effect on that. Might also be that the boost gauge is to heavily damped to register properly.

BS there's no gear detection so the ECU can't regulate boost based on gears.

Diff Speed/Engine RPM = Gear Ratio

Maybe in theory, but there's no evidence to suggest that the ST215 ECU does that, in fact there's evidence that it doesn't because when you change the speed signal by using a divider circuit nothing else changes apart from the speed cut.

thanks guys for your input. dunno why its only 7-8 psi in first and second though, could be due to the boost gauge reading wrong i suppose

Jumper pins (13) "TC" & (4) "CG"

Sorry don't have a picture of the port but I'm sure you can find one easy enough.

No, just means your airbag won't work.

would plugging this into a scan machine at my brothers work produce a different result?

Probably not unless it's portable and one of the few that can actually get data from a ST215. Then you could take out for a drive and log the ignition timing. AFAIK there are no codes that are not displayed by bridging the terminals.

What gas are you running in it, and have you checked the fuel filter and pickup (based on my recent experience with the car cutting out).

atm im running 95. but ive run 98 for ages and made no difference. i know i should run 98 fuel but with petrol prices atm no job and kids to feed its a bit hard. fuel filter could be a good idea actually. i'll check it out or just replace it. i'll lift up the rear seat tomorrow and check the pickup, what would i be looking for?

^^haha,

Just gunk in the pickup.

When my filter was replaced, we determined that the fuel was turning black after it passed the filter, there was that much crap in it.

With regard to the fuel, Caldina is super-sensitive to the octane (due to the high compression i think?) - remembering it was designed for 100. fivebob will be able to tell you more, but yeah, I'd switch back to 98 if you want it to last. There was someone who ran a small amount of 91 as the local gasser ran out of anything better. A short time later the engine died.
