Thats funny as prices vary I spoke to my Toyota dealer he thought he could accure this brake setup for $9.5 K through TNZ so I thought this is funny as Bowater quote $12.5 you have said 18 now this is a huge variance in price.

I've checked a few sites for similar Alcon Brembo AP Trust/Grex and alike and that 9.5 K isn't a bad price for that TRD 86 brake-kit.

I think Yems is saying 18k for Wheels + brakes?

Yeh im pretty sure its the wheels and brakes (sorry for the confusion) as the factory wheels wont fit on with the big brake kit.

The specs on ToyotaNZ imply that the manual 86 doesnt have body coloured bumpers or door handles? Can anyone confirm this?

86 is also 20kg lighter. Another plus.

Manual 86 DEFINITELY has body coloured handles and bumpers
86 also has lower CO2 emissions
I was expecting Corolla type seats in the 86, but they're actually bloody nice, hard to know how the pseudo suede will wear, but undoubtedly better than leather...

edit: and as already mentioned earlier in this thread, I can't imagine what you'd have to be driving like on the road to want bigger brakes...

There is a version going to be released next year (afaik) that will have unpainted bumpers mirrors door handles etc. Released as a motorsport base, pretty much so u can buy it cheap and turn it into a race car rather than buying the flash model, then making it a race car.

Have gone back and forth with colour choice, but this is what I'm going for.

Love the look of it as is. Tyre profile is nasty, could drop from a 205/55 to a 205/50, or 205/45 or even a 205/40; Leaves quite a bit of guard gap though. Either that or some tasty JDM wheels.

The clear rear lights need to go as well, so will havce to wait till there is a decent alternative. Otherwise, nothing much needs doing.

Just go in to a dealer and test drive one? It's not hard... It's not like you have to show a bank statement. If you ever get asked if you can afford it, tell the person to go get their manager.

Ring ahead and tell them you're coming in.

Don't rock up with your bogan mates in your track project and expect a drive though.

The sales rep will probably come with you, but that has never stopped me doing what I want. I've been test driving cars I'm interested in since I was 18.

That is awesome. Plan on hiring one for a road trip in the South Island next year!

This is possibly what you're thinking of. Various overlay tint options available.

Sorry, should I have put a disclaimer in something along the lines of "If you do not wish to be a tyre kicker or want it for a weekend in another city for a road trip etc"

I looked for availability for our trip to Chch and the FT86 option is "sold out" also looked for various dates up to Jan next year with the same result?

Wow, I didn't think we'd get the 'RC' model, how much cheaper than the 86 could it be?!

Well top model in japan is 3,000,000 yen and RC is 2,000,000 yen.
So low $30,000 maybe?

The RC models are all euro spec, so like the Rav4 diesels and Avensis we have in NZ already, they have the backwards indicator and wiper stalks, and a few other differences to the 86 and GT86 models.

Being designed as a base for race cars, they have no boot trims, stereo, A/C etc. also the engine is coated in some kind of strange blue/green goo.

I was at Manfield over the weekend. STM had their white GT86 out on track and a red TRD86 turned up for a few laps then disappeared.
