Driver Training is a really good idea before having a fling round Manfield believe it or not learning lines and braking points probably are a good idea before actually doing a day I'm sure several car clubs are still doing these types of days I personally think there are great idea before putting your pride and joy out on the track.

They do it at road and track for any new drivers that want it. then its just a case of getting out there.

jumping in a caged car with a good driver teaches you a lot as well. mainly how aggressive you need to be..

I find playdays are more my scene these days, no need for a cage or joining a car club. Sure it may cost you $100 for the day but man you get alot a track time for your money and you get to choose your level of driving from beginner up to experienced.

They give you 15 minute sessions on the track and as your skill level progresses throughout to day you can easily change into another group if you want to.

I sure do miss the good ole manfield open days. Always fun and a chance to give track a go without a huge entry fee.... Ahh memories lol

There's never any need for a cage below the level of National championship racing in NZ though, when it comes to road legal cars on a race track.

I actually enjoy the Dual Car Sprint format line up on the start finish with a car thats equally as fast and go door to door all day..

Nothing like someone putting the heat on going into turn 1 at Manfield after doing 210 down the front straight...I find that exilerating really gets the heart pumping.

Trust me, I've had 2 st185s. For a cheap get you started race car a levin is FAR superior. I'm setting my gt4 up for club events at the moment but the only reason I'm confident in doing it without spending every weekend fixing the car is that I've poured over 10k into it.
They're awesome cars but the age they are means that they're getting unreliable now and the fact they're turbo and 4wd makes it worse. Levins are cheap, cheap to run, reliable, easier to work on and still a lot of fun. I'm not claiming to be the voi@e of experience on rAcing, I just know st185s and being a student lol
The GT4 is to Celicas what the GTR is to skylines.

If you're feeling really brave, go down to the Shelly Bay street sprint next Sunday (not this Sunday) and get taken for a ride around the bay. You go in via Shelly Bay, not via Massey Point side (as that's the finish not the start) so you have to go through the tunnel out the other side of Mirimar.

Pucker factor = infinity.

It's like pucker factor infinity squared if the car you're in crashes.

Agreed. I ran one day at Manfeild where I did something like 6 or 7 sprints against the same car. At the end of the day our fastest times were separated by 0.02 of a second.

Although the multi car sprints are also pretty awesome. I had the supercharged MR2 out there in the rain, out there against 5 other cars. Quite a buzz.

The rain is even more fun I enjoy that even more heart in your mouth I find your absolutely shattered after a day at Manfield in the wet the level of concentration is under-rated mentally its really a challange.
