I'm doing a 2zz conversion in my 101 with quad throttle's etc so i want to custom make a half-height radiator. dimensions will be somewhere in the vicinity of 500x350x70mm. idea is to have the trumpets sticking out the grill and radiator ducted separately to ensure i get nice cold air being forced into the throttles.

does anyone know of an outfit that will sell the core to me in a custom size like this? Or if its a decent enough price make the whole thing?

my brother in law had a half height one made up to his dimensions by Heat Exchanger Services in CHCH that was reasonably priced.

The dimensions are similar to what you want. I don't know about the pipes though...
Solved my cooling problems when giving it death at Manfeild. It's rock solid at 80degrees for "normal" driving, at the track it doesn't go above 85.

Cheers guys. chch outfit look like they are onto it. will see what the price difference is between just getting the core or getting a whole radiator made.

that rad sounds about the size of alot of Townace/Liteace radiators

Had a quick look at dimensions last night with tape measure... getting trickier as i only have 200mm height to play with and 700mm width. Looking at angling the radiator now but all depends on how far back the block sits.

does anyone have any knowledge on efficiency of a radiator vertical flow vs horizontal flow?? I've been told it will effect efficiency quite a bit.

More short tubes will cool better than fewer long tubes since heat transfer is maximum where the temp difference is highest (ie, where the hot coolant enters the radiator) . But since you have SFA height to play with you probably dont want to lose more for inlet and outlet tanks...

aha yes that makes sense. yeah thats pretty much what i was thinking. although i could make it only 20mm or so top/bottom.

I had A1 radiators in Christchurch do a custom radiator for my Lotus 7 replica, really happy with the end result as it fits perfectly in the space I had and water temp is stable on the track. Plus get all the fittings exactly where I need them, was well worth it.

Ended up getting a dual pass (horizontal flow) Core 400mm*390mm * 56mm
