I'm a Ford supporter but my cheering for Reynolds had nothing to do with Ford/Holden - the dude drove the wheels off that thing and it was amazing to watch. He really deserved the win, just wasn't gonna be. I also don't like Whinge-cup.

Maybe because he was in a Ford?

Mr Revhead wrote:I was asking myself how long before there is a huge multi car one there... Not many places i the world where you can recross the track at speed after losing it. Was pretty scary.

I think it was sway bar failure that killed the brakes and the watts let go when he hit the wall. He said he heard it exiting Forrest Elbow, you would know long before the Chase if you had a bust watts

Agreed, he was very lucky the car didn't lift and flip. It didn't look like anything serious had happened when the TV footage showed him getting moving off the wall, then they cut to the replay of him crossing the track backwards at serious speed, I think there were thousands of "holy shiiiit!!"'s said at that moment.

Perhaps room for a late change to the COTF specs to include dual redundancy brake lines, if they're not already included. Just to counter anything similar happening again.

Eh, how would this work? Two lines to a caliper, with each caliper divided into two independent sets of pistons? Still not going to stop whatever broke one brake line breaking the other one too unless you route it along a different path. And the fun of trying to design a brake bias adjuster for four master cylinders, and fit it all in the pedal box.

Seperate masters, seperate reservoirs. You can only lose front or rear independently anyway, but front only at 300kph still isn't really enough brakes.

They already have that, 2 master cylinders, one front circuit , one rear circuit, connected with a balance adjuster bar. I'm just wondering how it behaves when you lose one circuit.. might be possible that the balance bar allows so much travel you never get pressure on the circuit that hasn't failed?

Id imagine possibly this, my starlet has the balance bar setup, and yes if i loose the rear brakes due to a leak, i would have no brakes... when we bleed the fronts or rears, the pedal will basically go to the floor and put no pressure on the circuit that is not 'leaking'.

The way to we would overcome this in a rally if brakes failed and we could still run, is to blank off the rear lines for example, so the piston still pushes against some pressure and allows the bias bar to give us front brakes.

I was sort of imagining a second line to the rears traveling in cabin, with some sort of pressure sensing valve in the calipers/lines near the rear brakes, that when it senses low pressure, it shuts the usual line, and switches to the backup in cabin line.

Or just run the line in the cabin so as not to be at risk of debris/mechanical damage.

I would presume they are in cabin as far as they can be, need to get to the wheel somehow though.
