Keep the Aristo, or swap to a ST246 Caldina?

Ok, so not exactly a step up from the Aristo then.

What's a Caldina then... A step up, step down or more a step sideways???


I'm starting to lean towards keeping it and doing a few things to it like shocks and cleaning her up.


Until of course my lotto ticket shows I have the winning numbers and I can get the RS6.

Dont go near the current shape rs4 2005-current

There has been some SERIOUS issues with these centered around carbon buildup in the ports. It appears to be happening to 60-75% of cars and basically means that every 10-20,000kms it gets so built up the car loses 20-50hp as measured on the dyno.

Then again it only costs 1500 bucks to clean.

once per year 1500 is ok I guess but then again you shouldnt get this with a premium level car.


Also caldina turbo auto, a mate had on. 300-350kms per tank if driven at all funly.

Get the 3ltr leggy, you dont hear much bad about them and they can be had with much lower kms and much newer than the caldina or aristo equivalents

Whats ya budget?
I've been quite impressed with the latest Mondeo diesels. 2 litre turbo diesel, 6 speed twin clutch. heaps of leg room front and rear, smooth as to drive. my worst average fuel economy has been 7.1l/100km. Normally average 6.8-6.9l

Have you considered something like a evo 9 station wagon as an option? Plenty of power, easy to mod for more if needed, and a well known and tested commodity being an evo.

Not looking at spending anything like that kind of money.

From what's been said, I'm actually leaning towards keeping the Aristo. I might splash out and do some mods to it, like exhaust and put the boost controller I got ages ago into it. I'm figuring the stock exhaust will be way passed it's use by date, so that should see some more horses out of the stable. I might even get some new shocks for it too.

If I get time, i will still go our and test dive a Caldina and it's have to be pretty damn special for me to go ahead and buy it.

I'm pretty sure the Aristo with a few bits and pieces done on it will give it a new lease on life and get me back into it a bit more.
