Lexus V8 Questions?

Postby matt dunn » Sat Nov 03, 2012 10:47 pm

Anyone here had much to do with the Lexus V8 conversions?

Helping with a project fitting one to a race car and has a thingee on the front which we are unsure about?

Supposedly the engine is from a Celsior,
and I suspect it may be to do with hydraulic drive fans?? if thy had that.

Here is a picture of the engine,

The thingee is question is in blue in the middle. Looks like a water pump but apparantly it is not.

There is a electric solenoid in the green in the picture which I presume is part of it as it is a non-VVT engine,

and there are three outlets/pipes yellow green and Blue?

What do we do with these? can you just block them off, or loop them? Or other?

Hydraulic fan drive,

Best way is to unbolt it completely, it leaves a big hole in the front covers, there have been a few guys that sell cover plates for when its removed.

Yes all the circled bits are part of it,

You can also put one of these in its place: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-par ... 479166.htm But seeing as it's a race car I assume you wont be using all the standard accessories and standard sepentine belt so as Si says just remove it and blank it off.
