Wtd: Old carpet suitable for garage

Postby crispy'86 » Fri Jan 18, 2013 6:44 am

As above, as our garage floor top got rained on after we laid the pad for it i need some carpet suitable for a garage, doesn't need to be pretty but needs to be intact. I had some that was available but by the time i got to it there was only a 3metre squared section. Need it to be 4.5 x 6 metres and don't want to spend any money if i don't have to, or even a box of beers or whatever as payment.
And prefer here in chch land
1983 Trueno Ae86 ( project), 92 HSV Clubbie. 2000 Fielder wagon
Many previously owned projects: 94 Hilux 4WD, 92 VP SS commodore, AE85 notchback, Ae85 rolling shell, Ke35 sr coupe, EP82 turb starlet

With all the demo work going on , there will be heaps of options. I would wager than most demo places would not value carpet at all and so it'll end up at the skip. I'd start there (never know what might be there) and if no luck, find out where the carpet is going.

Plenty of red zone houses getting knocked down that will have nice carpet in them.

I bought a 2 bedroom flat worth of carpet a year back. Cost me all of a buck! Problem was it was still down, wasnt a problem 20 mins later.

1 week after I had carpeted my garage (similar size as above), gave a room worth to a mate, and sold the other 2 rooms worth for $20, and I got fuel money for delivering it, lol.

Yeah dude. Go to your local Fletchers hub and ask them if you can receive some. They may or may not be helpful, but it's worth an ask.
Or, just roll up to a house that has a builders truck out front and ask them if they want to swap a box of booze for a few rolls. Liquid Gold is a strong currency in building :)
