Excessive engine heat 4agte

I picked my car up today today after getting some brake work done and the gurus said that they felt the car as really hot and I'm going to have a fun summer driving it...

It has always seemed a bit hot to me but nothing too bad. The fan for the radiator switches on when its supposed to but it does seem to switch on a lot. I run a Honda civic twin core alloy radiator currently. Also run a 3inch exhaust off the turbo.

Anyone have any thoughts as to what could be going on?

Hard one to define...maybe get a laser thermometer and see what the radiator gets to?

I will look into the thermostat. Yeah it is a tricky one. Engine is using no oil or water either

have a look at the gaps around the radiator, if there are large gaps then make up some plates to close them up.

when i had it in the FXGT it was quite tight in there and i had no issues with cooling even on the track.

What problem?
Is it an unknown fact that brake work gurus, what ever they are, are the definitive database of summer time automotive interior temp knowledge?
There is nothing tricky about it.

General rule of thumb is ignore most things that dude ^ says.
Has some knowledge but sarcastic method of delivery makes him come across as a tool.

He means like a large shroud around your radiator, so the air from the front of the car has to go through your radiator, so there is no way around it.

A smaller shroud for you fan will help too, if you haven't got one already.

No use of coolant and the temp gauge sits at half way where it should sit

What he means is do not trust monkeys at pitstop or midas etc.

How do you know there is actually a problem? Does the gauge run hot?

Who is the "guru"?

You got a water temp gauge hooked up? (aftermarket)

If you need to borrow one I have one sitting in the project car pretty sure I can track down the wiring etc for it :p

for comparision the skyline had a 52mm alloy rad 2fans in push and one in pull sat at 82C on the motorway or at around 50km (operating temp) and got to about 95C under load up the wainui hill.

highest it got on the burnout pad was 100C, Coolent system was good for about 120C before I would get worried.

I don't trust factory temp gauges (possibly the reason I didnt run it in the skyline) ;)

why bother fitting aftermarket gauges when there is no problem to start with?

I have an aftermarket one and the standard one. Aftermarket one is more precise. I will put my turbo benie back on to try and hold onto some of that heat rather then it disbursing it.

Redhead the gurus I speak of is Damon, the owner of auto brake and clutch and the guys he has working for him.

Turbo beanie? That might help under bonnet temps.
So did they say the water temp is running hot? Or that the engine is radiating a lot of heat under the bonnet?
