Bugger me that thing goes around corners well. Still leafs springs at the back?

I've only watched the first bit (at work...) but is the yellow and blue Mk1 the 'Metalworks / Metalsomething' one that enters Targa a lot?

Yep still leaf springs, whole lot of standard ones packed together to make it stiffer lol. Nothing trick at all with the suspension on this.
Always tell him to mod the suspension and the thing will fly if he does!!

Yep thats the 3L Nissan turbo Proctor Clark Escort.

Nope. Spitting at beg but very slightly. It was dry as a bone on the track.

how does such a small NA engine make so much power? must be like 10000:1 compression

300hp has been achieved by Cosworths and even a few Pintos for a long time.
Albeit highly tweaked ones!

Loved watching that car tear it up! Looked like the RX-7 and Proctor had to use pit entry to get past.

I had a good view from the R1 rescue ute.

Its 2.4L, everything on it has been custom engineered. None of the parts you can buy off the shelf lol.

The thing is, it revs ALOT and its still making power at 9800rpm, would continue to make power if you kept reving it. But it has HEAPS of torque down low. Notice how he launches, not many RPM and 1st gear goes to near 100kph as well.

Standard cosworth and pinto displacement is 2ltr. Pintos were also 2.3.

Making power is easy. As bling said just add $. Then add revs

Smith and Jones claim that power.
Recent engine they did went into another mk2 which was in the pc mag and in the other vids I posted in the multimedia section.

Dads car blew past it. All the internals on dads have been designed and work out by him, same with the head. He just uses their casted block and head.

We also know that guy who has the Smith & Jones eng down there. In a Zak speed MKII Escort?
Dad could easily pass that down the straight and was 2s a lap faster on much smaller tyres.

The Zakspeed is a genuine one, didn't think it had an engine like that. I thought he'd restored it to as close to orginal as possible. Pretty cool car
