DIY Link ecu

How hard is it to wire in a link ecu? Could it be done in a garage with average joes tools? or am I being too much of a tight ass trying to save $750 getting someone to do it for me?

Figure out your sensors, engine ancillaries, ignition, power, grounds, etc.
Use crimps/solder sleeves, side cutters, heat shrink, multimeter with tone test etc
Be meticulous and take your time. Map out the wiring and relays on a piece of paper
Mount the unit securely

If you have a wiring diagram and the link manual its relatively straight forward. Just make sure you have the correct wiring diagram for your car and engine.

And if you aren't confident in doing it yourself, then pay someone to do it.

I'm about to do mine, but I stripped back the engine, bay and dash harness so I know exactly which wire goes where, and I have the wiring diagrams.

Im keeping the auto trans at the mo so will be keeping factory ecu to control that. So adapters arnt a go.

good luck getting that to work- piggybacking a link so you have full tune ability, but the stock ecu receives the correct signals for trans to work properly. Can be done, but very few workshops will even attempt it, cos it takes some nutting out. hope you can do it.

can definately be done but i would think the average joe mechanic would struggle with it. If you really want to diy it then have someone who can assist if you get stuck.

Yeah its tricky but definitely possible - have done it myself a long time ago
