4k to 4age

i cant be arsed researching this myself as its not my project but a friend asked me for info

he has a dx corolla wagon with a 4k engine and 4spd gearbox (cant remember year)

will a 4age with t50 gearbox bolt straight into it? or do you need different crossmembers etc, does the gearbox fit in the tunnel etc etc


i dont like dx's hence i cant be bothered researching it

any help would be appreciated

wont "bolt in" can buy mounts on TM for a couple hundy.
T50 will fit in the tunnel, i think the t50 x member will work with a bit of hole slotting
Will need a suitable driveshaft
Will need to get a TE71 Hydraulic clutch pedal box / modify the cable pedal box.
obviously wiring
fuel pump + a new fuel line from the pump to the rail, can use the factory feed as the return.

those are the main bits from memory, If he can track down a AE70 Xmember the engine will bolt in.

No, crossmember is different between K/T/A/C versions of the 70 chassis. As it is a wagon then check if it has rack and pinion, can't use an A series crossmember without mods to the steering column mounting point on the firewall if it has a steering box.

No because an AE70 has a cross member with mount to suit an A series engine,

and a KE70 has a different cross member with K series mounts.

If you fit an Ae70 cross member they will bolt in,

But A series cross member + A series engines mounts
will be at leatst 2x the price of the K to A mounts off trademe.
