tailshaft bush t50

Postby Boost_4_Life » Sun Feb 10, 2013 6:54 pm

my gearbox man just rebuilt my t50, got him to replace the tailshaft bush too.

but i think he may have pressed it in too far causing it to shrink a little? I i cant get the driveshaft to go all the way in without bashing it with a hammer, and then i can't rotate it by hand at all... way too tight

how far in should the bush be on a t50? I thought i remembered the old bush sticking out close to the rear seal. this one there is a ~5mm gap between the seal and start of the bush? Or is a new bush just going to be bastard tight on the yoke till it wears in?

as luck would have it my t50 / drive shaft is out of the KE at the moment.

seal & bush sit flush with each other then there is about a 2mm step down to the tail shroud (for lack of a better word).

drive shaft slides in fairly freely, only a little tension is required to push it in. turns freely once in there.

Out of curiosity, what was it worth to rebuild? Is yours 20 or 22 spline? I'ts the only thing that hasn't been rebuilt in my car :?

hmm thanks for that. thats where i thought it should sit... but mine has been pushed right in to the inner step. so its actually got ~10mm between bush and seal. we ended up giving it a very light ream with some emery paper and that did the trick. slides free as. must have just had a small burr from pressing it in. though the fact its in further does concern me, any implications? gearbox man reckons it will be sweet...

depends on what parts you need brad. mine was 5 hundy for some bits from mark, no bearings needed. my selector forks, synchros and hubs were f*cked. labour for the rebuild not sure yet... i stripped it all myself, just got him to rebuild the shafts and slap the main casing back together. half a days labour i think. to put it in perspective when i rebuilt it last season, it was like 1500 all up 8O
