OBD2 vehicle database.

Postby Crucible » Sat Mar 02, 2013 2:51 am

Im looking at purchasing an osilloscope to assist our scan tool at work and need a good online vehicle database to pull up wiring diagrams etc..

Googled and looked at mitchell-on demand and shop key but they are american based so not sure if their database covers OBD2 japanese and euro stuff. Only local source i can find are Boyce autolibrary who charge $1100 per year.

Any suggestions, anyone used any of the above sources?

Cheers Edyn

Slightly off topic,I see you answered a question on an another thread, sounds like you know one or two things about diagnostics, I have a 1995 Suzuki Escudo 2 litre V6 and the engine check light has started flashing, the local mechanic couldnt connect it to their diagnostic computer, do you know how to get any stored info from computer and how to clear computer to stop light flashing.Car still runs great etc-wondering if Oxygen sensor or similar has died and needs replacement. Thanks if you can help.

i know you can sign up as an independent for access to Topix, which covers jaguar and landrover. dunno what it costs though, if anything. its generally pretty comprehensive.

andyz - it sounds like it might be a spot too old for OBD, if you do a google search you might find something similar the the way older toyotas work with shorting out a certain connector and counting the flashes to get a code.

Yes it will be pre OBD2 reason why the mechanic couldnt access with scan tool. As suggested above you will need to retrieve codes by the old method of bridging terminal and counting engine check lamp flashes. Codes are normally cleared on older OBD1 cars by disconnectind the battery for a few minutes. If the check lamp comes back on then you will need to rectify the problem. Heres a link that may be of some help.
