There seem to be reasonably available in Australia for some reason, apparently they had some RA60 GT models which had that diff, a lot more than anywhere else I've found anyway.
Even if you had to pay for shipping, it would still likely work out cheaper than having someone competent fab up some mounts, shorten axles etc.
You can even buy chromoly axles for them in Australia off the shelf, so they must be around!

but I migggghhhtttt be able to get it back.

If I were you, I would buy that 'cressida' diff on the condition that it is definitely an F series, if not then refund.
Because if it is, and it doesnt fit a carina then it'll be an easy peasy onsell to someone with a Cressida instead.
The spare diff housing I had was going to be shoe horned into an MX40 as apparently it would have fit straight up...
Could be worthwhile seeing if there's any clues as to cross compatability on Toyodiy.
