What to look for: ST246 GT-FOUR Caldina

Postby MrOizo » Mon Mar 11, 2013 5:55 pm

Hey peoples,

I am looking at a ST264 tomorrow night for my brother in law.

What should I be looking out for?
Are there problems with the exhaust manifolds warping like the GT-T 3S's?

Cheers.

No, they fixed the manifold warping issue in the 2000 onward models.

It's still a 3S though.... so the usual things for a 3S

It will be fine if you keep it stock.

If you choose to modify it, chances are its going to break, you will become bankrupt while trying to keep it on the road and your wife will leave you :P

As with any 3S, look after your oil and water. turbos blow by gunking up at the kink in the oil supply line, cooling components shit themselves more rapidly by gunking up the cooling system leading to overheat and warped head. the sign i missed (didn't know anything at the time) when i bought my car was the heater didn't blow as hot as my old Celica did and the kms were similar, a heater core shouldn't be blocked at 130,000kms unless it ran the same coolant for 3 years or something
