Wheel or external dimensions?

https://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/sites/default/files/default_images/turbogroup/drawing/Garrett_GTX4294R_800269_1.pdf

They are a 70 inducer/94mm exducer compressor (good for around 95lb/min), 82mm inducer/75mm exducer turbine.

If he really wants that turbo he'll find a way to make it fit.

8O

Be nice if he means it - a lot of people here seem to over turbo their cars, nothing like another car making 400kw @ wheels with a turbo good for >700kw ;)

Agree with your comments regarding a wasted turbo however.

On anything less than a 6cyl with a pretty damn angry head then I am not nearly convinced :-P

Not saying I have an issue with excessively large turbos at all lol, its just a good time to decide on what is really needed and turbo cars get a bad rep for lag etc which is largely from people choosing turbos suited to a decent amount more power than they will ever use it to make

You could run a much smaller turbo than that and run 30psi.

Not with the same amount of air flow or effiency

I dont want to get into an arguement

Yes a Gtx35 could be used but it will be off the compressor map

GTX3582R is not the next size down turbo from a GTX4294R though! Seems in NZ the only turbo options are GT35, GT42. Sometimes T04Z if people are feeling nostalgic.

Not saying you or your mate fit into that - and definitely not arguing... you've said nothing about engine type or spec, just "30psi" which could mean anything - a TD05 will run 30psi on the right motor and be a good match. A T88 could do the same on the same motor, but be a piece of shit.

I was just making sure I said my bit so that I don't feel negligent if I see yet another 2litre 4cyl with cams and a little head work making full boost at near 7000rpm and making the same or less power than a T3 based turbo could have done and resulted in a quicker more enjoyable car. If he's actually building a 550+ kw (on pump gas - or 700+kw on race gas) car, awesome! :D

Aim is full boost around 3500rpm ;) the reason for the bigger frame is at redline the turbo needs to provide around 90Lb/min or 1300cfm as the head has a high VE

plotting onto the comp map half the rev range is sitting at 80% effiency and redline is at around the 70% mark so it wont run out of puff only issue is its just sitting inside the surge line

but anyway I was asking about physical size so I could work out placement in the bay not if the turbo was suited to the engine :)

I am alittle surprised there hasnt been more flaming tbh haha

I don't know about others but you haven't actually said or done anything flame worthy by my reckoning, I make no assumptions and love awesome performance so anything that looks like it could be heading that way gets my intrigue and as such I try to add things that might be helpful, as opposed to hindering it as successful builds make me happy.

I really have to remember to stop giving a shit about randoms on forums, won't happen again here.

A freaking amazing one, 30psi at 3,500rpm on a GT42... and anything smaller wouldn't have enough air flow or efficiency.

I have a bad feeling you might have described this engine build very accurately
