16v block vs 20v block

Postby mlewis » Wed Apr 10, 2013 10:07 pm

Are there differences between the 20v blocks and a redtop block? apart from the differences in the rods and piston are there any other differences. looking at blocks atm and the 20v silver top block looks a lot cleaner then the redtop blocks that I've found. Also a lot of people use the 16v block and 20v head, could you use a 20v block and 16v head?

Redtop has the provision for an external oil drain, but they're all interchangeable. Assuming small port redtop that is, think the bigport red tops still use the 40mm big end crank, could be wrong though.

by the looks of the rod comparison photo the bigport red top rods are the same as the early small ports so I'm guessing they are the bigger crank

Silvertop bottom end will be fine

Not 100% sure what comp ratio you would get though
