best forged piston to get...

what brand of forged piston is best to get for 4age? and were and who are the reps? or who can i go through to get lets say wisco or JE pistons.

i know toyota do brand new 8.0-1 compression pistons for $200 ea pistons

I'd use factory toyota ze ones if I were you. Unless you want to fork out for a custom set of CP's which unless you are chasing over 500hp will offer you no advantage at all. We pushed mine to well over 500hp on stock ze aw11 pistons and never had a problem. Find someone to tune it who actually knows what there doing and use a decent ecu and you will never have a problem!

I have standard ZE ones in my wagon and pushed 489hp at 32.2psi.... Stay standard

As above, no need to buy expensive forged pistons for a turbo application - Mark should be able to do you less than $200 per piston, though rings are seperate

Are new still available for through Toyota? I thought you couldn't get them any more.

Last time I bought new ones they were between $74 and $84 each or something.

We just bought a set of 8.9:1s in .5 oversize for a customer, there are still 6 left in TNZ

okay ill get a new set i guess from toyota. but what about oil squirters with the aw11 pistons they dont have the cut out is it okay just to block them up and run no oil squirters?

Or you could make a cutout in the skirt yourself, but would pay to balance the pistons afterwards so they are the same weights.

Not at all actually, if you do it right it can look like a factory cutout. You wont be altering the skirt of the piston enough to cause a problem.
As long as the piston weights are the same afterwards.

The cutout is tiny. Can be done with a dremel or similar.
Nothing rough about it. Just sand the edges after.

You just need to measure and mark on the piston where it needs to be, cut out a semi circle from paper and trace around it, I bet you would not need to balance it after is you cut to your lines.

I'm interested in getting some new 8:1 pistons too.

Do you mind saying how much the pistons and oil pump were (from Mark?)? Did you get 8:1 or 8.9:1?

Hey Al, the pistons were $90 each and a full set of rings were $175
That was for 8.0:1 0.5mm oversize.

Oil pumps are normally $175 or $210 - seems to depend on how generous TNZ are feeling :lol:
